No “Sex Theme Park” till now ??? Friday, May 11 2007

The April 19th, TOI Bangalore edition carried a headline on front page saying there will be no sex education in schools. There was supposedly a widespread opposition on introducing the sex education with even the primary and secondary education minister questioning it. As we have this case in Karnataka, India, TOI carried another article on the same day in the international section :

” First ever ’sex theme park’ in UK “

With the advent of technology, and man’s desire to fulfill his desire has been on a steep rise. Amusement parks and theme parks are coming up everywhere, with variety of rides and entertainment attractions to entertain a large group of people. Walt Disney world, or better know as Disney land is perhaps the largest of these amusement parks which cater to the needs of adults, teenagers and small children. Theme parks are a sub unit of Amusement parks, which have rides which go with the theme of the park.
Now I never knew, there was NO “Sex Theme Park” till date. The first one came up just two days ago in London. The Times of India read :
Now, you can enjoy a spankometer, an orgasm tunnel and a giant wall of willies at the world’s first ever “sex theme park”, opening on April 18 in London. It’s full of high-tech interactive attractions, including a stripping masterclass, a voyeur’s peep wall and………”

This is supposed to be Most auspicious day of Hindu calender, and i never even Knew about it. Googled for it and i recieved some 70,000 results. and this is what Wikipedia has to say :

Akshaya Trithiya is one of the four most auspicious days of the year for Hindus. The word Akshaya, a Sanskrit word, literally means one that never diminishes, and the day is believed to bring good luck and success. The day is particularly considered auspicious for buying long term assets like gold and silver, including ornaments made of the same; diamond and other precious stones; and the real estate. The legend states that any venture initiated on the auspicious day of Akshaya Tritiya shall continue to grow and bring prosperity. With the mass media and marketing, this day has been taken over by marketeers to promote sales and bookings for Gold jewellery, houses, consumer electronics. The day is also traditionally celebrated as the birth day of the Hindu sage Parashurama, the sixth avatar (incarnation) of the God Vishnu. In 2007, Akshaya Tritiya falls on 20th April. According to Hindu mythology, on this day the Treta Yuga began; and the Ganges River, the most holy and sacred river of India, descended to the earth from the heaven.

Kannada na Slaughter “Maadi” Friday, May 11 2007

It started of with a Radio FM tag line “MAST MAJAA MAADI” (93.5 S FM, Bangalore).
It means “Have lots of Fun”! ( In Kannada) . From the day we landed in Bangalore, all my friends took great interest (and when i say great interest here, I mean it) in this amazingly simple and truly potential word Maadi, meaning “to do” with respect.
And initially there was this offer from some company which gave out cars to lucky winners on scratching coupons. The tag went like ” Scratch MAADI, win Gaadi “. These two tag lines have created such an enthusiasm in my friends that they have started using THIS word in their everyday life, where ever they go, with whoever they speak, and in what ever context it be !!
Many slogans rose which incorporated THE WORD.

  • Drink Maadi, Drive Gaadi.
  • Booz Maadi, Drink Bacardi.
  • Chill Maadi, Go to Pahadi. ( Pahadi Happens to be a very famous outing near BITS-Pilani).
  • Change style Maadi..Wear paraag Saadi.
  • Cross maadi, Look at the Gaadi.

These slogans atleast meant something. But the worst part is, bringing in the word in every damn sentence you try to speak.
“Write maadi”, “Speak maadi”, “Laugh maadi”, “Eat maadi”, “Walk maadi”, and even…..”F**k Maadi”. A friend of mine (Maheshwari, Rajasthani origin settled in Hyderabad), wanted to have mango Juice and he asked for it. He also wanted a few mango pieces floating in the juice. He did not know what to ask for, and he ended up saying : ” Mango pieces cut MAADI, Juice….“Daal” Maadi”. ( Cut the mango pieces, and “put” it into the juice).

And You see, this is how Kannada is being slaughtered. But I have no regrets as far as i am having fun with my guys, trying desperately to learn Kannada ASAP !!

Ladder Theory !! Friday, May 11 2007

The other day i was going through a blog which stated a theory, The Ladder theory !! Wow, i never really knew something like that existed. We have been through many many theories, by many eminent personalities. They all describe the matter and the way nature acts and behaves. Bing Bang theory, Atomic theory, Theory of relativity, blah blah…. My “blah blah” never meant they are worthless. They have led the mankind to its present understanding of the universe. But never before has a theory been so elegantly put up.

The ladder theory is a theory of adult male/female interaction. It has its basis in many years of sociological field testing. it was first conceptualized in 1994 in Exeter, CA. Jared Whitson was the man behind formalizing the theory. I am so sorry that i did not come across this all my age. Following is a conversation between a guy and a girl speaking their heart out, and speaking their own perspective. This is supposed to lay the foundation of Ladder theory :

Sally: We are just going to be friends, OK?
Harry: Great, friends. It’s the best thing…You realize, of course, that we can never be friends.
Sally: Why not?
Harry: What I’m saying is – and this is not a come-on in any way, shape, or form – is that men and women can’t be friends, because the sex part always gets in the way.
Sally: That’s not true. I have a number of men friends and there is no sex involved.
Harry: No, you don’t.
Sally: Yes, I do.
Harry: No, you don’t.
Sally: Yes, I do.
Harry: You only think you do.
Sally: You’re saying I’m having sex with these men without my knowledge?
Harry: No, what I’m saying is they all want to have sex with you.
Sally: They do not.
Harry: Do too.
Sally: They do not.
Harry: Do too.
Sally: How do you know?
Harry: Because no man can be friends with a woman that he finds attractive. He always wants to have sex with her.
Sally: So you’re saying that a man can be friends with a woman he finds unattractive.
Harry: No, you pretty much want to nail them, too.
Sally: What if they don’t want to have sex with you?
Harry: Doesn’t matter, because the sex thing is already out there, so the friendship is ultimately doomed, and that is the end of the story.

The theory also explains how each gender rates the other at their first site !!

Follow these links to familiarize yourself which such a magnificent concept.

Bangalore to Corrg Wednesday, Apr 11 2007

Coorg happens to be a hill station.252 kms from Bangalore and 1525 m above sea level lies Madikeri, the district headquarters of Kodagu. Coorg or Kodagu(originally called Kodaimalenadu) means ‘dense forest on steep hill’. Dubbed as the Scotland of India, this town has a lot to offer to the tourist. Misty hills, lush forest, acres and acres of tea and coffee plantation, orange groves, undulating streets and breathtaking views are what make Madikeri an unforgettable holiday destination.

Started off early in the morning on friday, in a white Qualis. Me, veshan, maddy, pasri, pillu and banda…..Had an Vommala time. Nawaz and Zombie cud`nt make it. to the trip. They were “BUSY” !!

Day 1:
So, we were headed to Mysore and Coorg. We came to Srirangapatnam on the way to Mysore. This happens to be a Tipu Sultan’s death Place. Visited Ranganatha Swamy temple, then saw the Tipu`s Tomb, his dungeons and all.

WE coverd a place called Daria Daulat Bagh, which is Tipu’s two-storey summer palace, with landscaped gardens.Moving on we came across a small dam kinda thing. this was called Belamthura falls. Had a halt, changed into shorts and jumped into the waters. Spent an awsome hour or so there…..(WOW, was too good, but this was only good. Better was yet to come).

Then we reached a bird sanctuary. Didn’t find too many birds there, but had a great boat ride, with birds all over the lake. Had lunch on the way and reached Mysore by 3:00 or something. Went straight to The mysore palace and spent almost the evening there. The sculptures and the paintings were….Abbabbabbaaaa…..no words !!! Then moved on to Coorg. Reached a Place called Kushal nagar. Had a night halt there.

Day 2:
There was this place called Nisargadhama, nearby and so we planned to give a visit to that place. this place also was an excellent one. Had a boating session, ( self paddling ) for 10 mins, and a race too.

Had a cool snap session and, then moved over to a place called Dubare elephant park ( something like that ). Supposed to be a fun filled elephant ride park, but we didn’t get a chance to ride on its back. We were late. So we moved on. had lunch and then went to ABBI FALLS, probably the star attraction of our trip. had a gala time there with evryr body learning swimming. We went and sat directly under the falls, and the force with which they were striking us was tremendous. They were no softer than stones. Spent some generous 3 hours there and headed to our rooms in Madikeri.

abbi_falls-madikeri-3.jpg

Got cleaned up and then headed to RAJA`s Seat !! It happens to be a sunset point but we were late here too and missed the sunset. Had Bhel, and “Mamidikais” with plenty of chili powder (on Banda’s request) which made all the mouths run for water. Came back to our rooms, saw Bangladesh smash all over the fences and expecting a decent win by SA, crashed.

Day 3:
Got up and saw that the Proteans were given a Bengal Bashing !! Got ready and went to “Omkareshwar temple”, and then to a fort in Madikeri. Nothing impressive but had some beautiful snaps. We came back to room and packed our luggage and left for Buddhist Monastery (Golden Temple) . This was a Tibetans settlement area. The temple was amazing !! A very very tall statue of Lord Buddha.

Did some shopping in the stalls around the monastery and headed our way home.
Reached Bangalore in the evening at around 8 o’ clock.
